realme at MWC 2023 exhibition : a smartphone with the most powerful charger in the world and RGB backlight

This year, realme did not organize its own stand at Mobile World Congress but held a large presentation where

it was the first in the world to introduce a serial smartphone with a 240W charger: and it was realme GT3. Such a powerful charger makes it possible to replenish the battery with a capacity of 4,600 mAh from 0 to 100% in just 9 minutes and 30 seconds. You can get half the battery capacity in just 4 minutes, and charging it for 80 seconds is enough to get more than 20%. During the presentation, realme showed that the smartphone recharged from 2 to 23% in a matter of 80 seconds. Finally, a 30-second connection to the power supply will suffice for a two-hour conversation, three hours of listening to music, or 40 minutes of watching a streaming video.

The developers have used many advanced technologies to ensure such fast charging:

  • three power control chips, each designed for 100W (that is, you will still have a margin) and possessing an energy efficiency of 98.5%.
  • 12A USB Type-C cable with a 20% higher rated current load and 77.8% higher cross-section compared to previous solutions.
  • The power supply is based on gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductors which provides high power in a very compact housing.

realme has taken care of safety, too. There is fire protection, 13 temperature sensors, and 60 protection layers. There is a large evaporation chamber with an evaporation area of 6,580 mm2 which covers 61.5% of the battery to prevent it from overheating during charging. Its safety is also confirmed by a TÜV Rheinland certificate.

Another interesting feature is smart charging: the smartphone can determine the conditions under which it charges best and select the most effective power mode. For example, if you decide to charge the device at night, it will reach 80%, while the remaining 20% will be replenished within a few minutes after you wake up. It is similar to charging the car: the last 20% will be replenished when you approach the destination.

The charging indicator is located on the back panel, next to the camera unit. It changes color depending on the charge level. In addition, the rectangular indicator signals notifications received and can be used when shooting: when you start a 10-second timer, it will change color from blue to white and then orange. The indicator can also be configured independently by selecting one of 25 colors, two types of rhythm, and five pulsation speed modes.

Otherwise, realme GT3 is quite an ordinary powerful smartphone. The device is equipped with a 6.74-inch AMOLED display that has a resolution of 2,772 × 1,240 pixels, an aspect ratio of 20:9, a refresh rate of 144 Hz, and support for 10-bit color depth. The screen provides 100 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color space.

The new model is based on last year's flagship single-chip Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 platform complemented by 8, 12, or 16 GB of RAM, as well as a flash drive with a capacity of 128 GB to 1 TB. The rear camera system includes a main 50 MP module with optical stabilization, an 8 MP sensor with a wide-angle lens (112°), and a 2 MP sensor for macro photography. The selfie camera resolution is 16 MP.

The sales of realme GT3 smartphone will be underway in different countries in May in black and white colors. Configurations with 8/128 GB (RAM/Flash), 12/256 GB, 16/256 GB, 16/512 GB, and 16 GB/1 TB will be available.
