Step forward: how innovative technologies affect the future of football. (Lenovo)

10/09/2022

The tactics of the game has been long drawn by the trainer on the board with ordinary chalk, relying on a combination of experience and senses.

But times are changing. The technological revolution has brought innovative technologies: the class boards have been replaced with touchscreens based on advanced technologies.

Necessary football infrastructure

“Now we can track every moment of every game, every workout, every player, and process that data,” said Lorenzo Antonioli, Head of Technology at Internazionale.

"Effective innovative technologies are now an integral part of football infrastructure. And since the beginning of the partnership with Lenovo, the results speak for themselves.”

Video tracking and GPS technologies collect an incredible amount of data from each player in each match and training with an accuracy of up to one millisecond. Information is collected about acceleration, speed, distance, power, and so on.

Data that contributes to success

Data obtained from players' activity is used to form detailed reports that are provided to trainers, fitness instructors, and technical analysts.

During each game, the team of analysts sits high in the stands and captures all interactions using a wide-angle camera. After that, the desired excerpts from the game are cut, marked, and sent to the assistant trainer. All this is broadcast on the "tactical boards" in the locker rooms to discuss what was happening between the halves.

Shared vision

The team is supported daily and sometimes hourly by a Lenovo consultant.

“We can rely on Lenovo for continuous technology improvement and first-class advice,” says Lorenzo.

“We don't need a partner who fills us with information, but a partner who understands our way forward to help us get to our next goal faster and more efficiently.”

In the short term, this goal is to remain competitive in Series A and strengthen Inter's presence in the European Champions League. Looking ahead, we can say that the sky is the limit.
